Biography:

Rainer Buchmann is the President of SSI SCHAEFER PEEM, a leading supplier for logistics equipment and automation, specialized in the pharmaceutical industry. He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University in Darmstadt, Germany, and has 20 years of experience in designing high-performance material handling systems. He started his career in Mannesmann Demag as conceptional engineer and then transferred to Great Britain, where in the following 8 years he held several management positions including Design Director, and Systems Engineering Product Manager. In 1997 he returned to Germany, where he assumed the position of the Manager of International Operations and joined in 2000 the Management Board of Mannesmann Dematic. From 2001 to 2004 he headed up the European Material Handling Automation Division of Siemens Dematic. Since July 2004 he has been President of SSI SCHAEFER PEEM. He is widely regarded as a world-leading authority on the design and implementation of state-of-the-art logistics systems. With his long experience in the industry, Mr. Buchmann has developed and implemented numerous logistics systems for major retailers, wholesalers, manufacturers and 3PL's throughout Europe, America and Australasia.
