Biography:

Stefano Pessina is Deputy Chairman of Alliance UniChem, the second largest pharmaceutical wholesaler in Europe that covers United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece and Morocco. He was Appointed Deputy Chairman of the Group in 1997.

He graduated in Nuclear Engineering at the University "Politecnico di Milano". After a few years spent within the same academic establishment, he spent 4 years as an executive at AC Nielsen. In 1973 he set up a new consulting and entrepreneurial activity. In 1977 he founded Alleanza Farmaceutica, which became his main activity thereafter. From that date he built up his interests in a number of European countries to form the Alliance Santé Group which merged with UniChem Plc in 1997. He was appointed as director of the IFPW Board in January 1999.
